New Cheltenham branch spreads Christmas cheer
December 8th, 2022Cheltenham Town Football Club manager Wade Elliott and captain Sean Long were on hand to officially mark the big kick-off of our new branch.
We were delighted to open a new branch in Cheltenham this week, which can be found at Festival Trade Park on Runnings Road. It’s our 74th branch in the UK and, as official club partners, the Cheltenham Town duo were on hand to help cut the ribbon.
To mark the opening, we made a £1,000 donation to Cheltenham school Prestbury St Mary’s Federation, as well as pledging a further £2,000 to our nominated charity Cancer Research UK.
The St Mary’s Federation was selected as the winner of the Community Heroes competition, which invited community groups and charities in and around Cheltenham to have the chance to win £1,000 to support their work.
The Federation has a total of 450 pupils in its infant and junior schools and the funding will help support the purchase of books for students.
Kirsty Stevens, chair of Prestbury St Mary’s Parents, Teachers and Friends Association, said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen as Selco’s Cheltenham Community Heroes winner.
“With the cost of living crisis every penny counts, not only for the school but also for the parents of our pupils.
“As a Parents, Teachers and Friends Association, we are doing everything we can to ease the financial worries of the families of our children and this Selco donation will be put to great use to fund the purchase of new books for their studies.
“It’s going to make a huge difference and we can’t thank Selco enough.”
Sean Phillips, branch manager at Selco Cheltenham, said: “It’s fantastic to be able to open our Cheltenham branch. It brings the Selco offering into a new part of the country and helps serve tradespeople in the local area.
“Supporting charities and community groups in the areas in which we operate is an integral part of the Selco ethos so we are delighted to mark the opening of our new branch with a £3,000 donation. We hope the funding will make a real difference to two very worthy organisations.”
Come and meet the Cheltenham team soon.
