This makes them suitable for damp proof courses, bridges, canals and tunnels, but it's wise to take extra waterproofing measures alongside the bricks.
It’s not ideal to paint engineering bricks. Most of the time, engineering bricks will be used in applications where they’re out of sight, so painting them might be unnecessary. Plus, they have a low absorption rate so they’re not an ideal surface to paint on.
Due to their high strength and durability, engineering bricks can be difficult to cut. You can use a hammer and bolster, or an angle grinder with a diamond blade for a more precise cut.
