ALPHINGTON BLAZERS LIVE FOOTBALLING DREAM
October 25th, 2023Members of a boys junior football team enjoyed a taste of life as a professional footballer after winning a training session with the management team of Exeter City – thanks to Selco.
Alphington Blazes under 14s claimed the prize in our special competition, which was made possible by our partnership with Exeter City.
Alphington Blazers, who play in the Exeter Youth League, also won 20 tickets to a League One game at St James Park and a new kit for the 2023-24 season.
Exeter City boss Gary Caldwell led the training session at the club’s Cliff Hill complex, along with assistant manager Kevin Nicholson and first team coach David Perkins.
Gary said: “It was a fantastic training session and it was really enjoyable to be able to give something back to grassroots football by training the lads from Alphington Blazers.
“We replicated many of the training sessions we would carry out with the first team and the lads were fantastic at taking our advice on board.
“We had some great fun with the team and we wish them every success for the rest of the season.”
The competition was open to any boys or girls team playing in a recognised league at any age group between under eights and under 15s in and around Exeter.
Jamie Littley, manager of Alphington Blazers, said: “It was a brilliant experience for the team and something they will remember for a long time.
“Gary and his management team were great with the lads and to go to the fantastic facility at Cliff Hill and to learn from some top EFL coaches was a real treat.
“We can’t thank Selco enough for running the competition.”
