OLIVER OVERJOYED WITH SELCO’S SPECIAL DELIVERY

March 21st, 2018

A Nottingham six-year-old with autism has been surprised with the delivery of more than £1,000 worth of building materials to help build an outdoor spa, thanks to Selco Builers Warehouse.

Oliver Coulson was diagnosed with autism last year and doctors have suggested that any kind of water activities can play a large part in his development.

The Nottingham branch of the builders merchant decided to arrange a free-of-charge delivery drop of treated timbers, paving slabs and sand to the Coulson household in Ruddington to enable an outdoor spa to be built.

As well as being diagnosed with autism, Oliver has an extra male chromosome which means the muscles in his legs are not developing at the same rate as the rest of his body.

On receiving the donation, Shayne said: “Water is the one thing that can make Oliver calm down and relax, so this lazy spa will be so useful to us.

“We sometimes have to use a wheelchair for long distance walking to deal with his muscle aches. The lazy spa will make his muscles recover without him even knowing and that is such a valuable thing.”

Oliver also received a special treat from the builders merchant on the day the materials were delivered.

He added: “It was such a fun morning for Oliver. He put his high-vis jacket on and watched the driver dropping everything off – even telling him where to drop the materials!

“Once everything was unloaded he got the chance to sit in the driver’s seat and have a picture taken. It might not seem like much, but Oliver loves the simple things in life and he will never forget this.”

Adam Newbold, trade sales manager at Selco’s Nottingham branch helped deliver the materials, and said: “We are thrilled to help out with Oliver’s development, and it was great to see him so excited when we arrived.

“Community spirit is a vital part of the Selco ethos, so we were delighted to help in any way that we could.”

With hundreds of trade brands always in stock and open seven days a week, Selco’s 60 branches across the UK are firmly focused on helping tradespeople complete their jobs as quickly and effectively as possible.
