October 10th, 2025
A Manchester organisation committed to tackling homelessness and poverty in the city has won building materials to help create a new woodworking workshop for its service users.
Supporting People In Need (SPIN) has been named as one of our latest Community Heroes winners, winning £1,000 to spend with us.
SPIN works tirelessly to create safe spaces, deliver practical training and build brighter futures, helping anyone facing financial hardship.
The not-for-profit charitable organisation is launching a new project known as the 'Rebuild Room', a dedicated space where people can learn hands-on skills in woodworking, DIY and creative construction.
Claire Robinson, Project Manager at SPIN, said: “We are delighted to receive this fantastic support from Selco.
“Our Rebuild Room will be a place where our residents - many of whom are overcoming incredibly difficult circumstances - can learn hands-on skills in woodworking, DIY and creative construction.
“The workshop will offer a safe and supportive environment for individuals to rebuild confidence, self-worth and purpose, all while picking up new employable skills.
“These materials from Selco will get the project off to a strong start. Community Heroes is a fantastic scheme that is helping so many groups across England and Wales.”
Simon Humpage, Head of Multi-Channel Marketing at Selco, said: “Community Heroes was created five years ago to help good causes across the country and has grown in prominence year-on-year.
“We have been inundated with fantastic nominations but SPIN really stood out because of its clear focus and drive to improve people’s lives.”
