GITTINGS CELEBRATING BEST EVER THUNDERSPORT RESULTMarch 24th, 2016
Manchester motorcycle ace Adam Gittings believes his best ever finish in Thundersport GB has set him perfectly for the rest of the year.
Gittings is busily preparing for his second event of the season, which takes place over the Easter weekend at Donington Park, but still reflecting positively on events at Brands Hatch at the start of this month.
The 22-year-old from Hyde, who is sponsored by leading builders merchant Selco Builders Warehouse, notched a fifth place finish in the second of his four races in the Pre-National Sport 600 Championships.
He said: “It was a massive boost to finish fifth in the second race on the Saturday.
“We knew it was possible at some stage this season but to do it on the first weekend has given me and the team a huge boost for the months to come.
“So much of motorsport is about confidence and to get a result like that on the first weekend is fantastic.
“The target now is to try and repeat that regularly and climb even higher. I enjoy racing at Donington so this weekend can’t come soon enough.”
Gittings’ season got off to a frustrating start when he was forced to retire from his opening race when racing in ninth as his footrest became loose on his new Suzuki Gsxr600 Supersport.
The fifth place finish provided the undoubted highlight of the weekend, before Gittings finished in 16th and 21st places in Sunday’s two races.
“The fifth place finish was fantastic and came in the wet,” added Gittings. “We are still looking to improve our power and race pace in the dry and that has been the focus since Brands Hatch and leading into Donington.”
