What are the benefits of engineered timber?

  • Quick installation - Pasquill roof trusses and joists are manufactured off-site to speed up installation on-site. Engineered timber solutions can be installed in days, rather than weeks, and in any weather to ensure your project stays on track
  • Strength and durability – Engineered timber is an incredibly durable material lasting for hundreds of years
  • Cost – Prices are less likely to fluctuate as off-site factory costs are more predictable than on-site building costs
  • Environmentally-friendly – Pasquill only use responsibly sourced timber with any waste generated during production recycled
  • Enhanced design possibilities – Engineered timber allows you to achieve more advanced designs, compared to traditional methods or where steel supports need to be used

Roof Trusses

Roof trusses are the most commonly used form of framing in the UK. Manufactured off-site, they hugely reduce the amount of time spent installing a new roof, compared to traditional building methods, and offer more design flexibility.

Pasquill roof trusses are built off-site at one of the company’s seven manufacturing facilities across the UK and delivered directly to your site where they are secured into the structure of the building.

What are the different types of roof trusses?

Types of roof trusses graphic

Types of roof trusses:

  • Attic truss – Also known as a ‘room in roof truss,’ an attic truss provides a simple structural roof and floor as one complete section, offering more living space without changing the footprint.
  • Fink truss – The most common type of roof truss in new build homes. Fink trusses have an internal web configuration shaped like a W, which gives them excellent load-carrying capacity.
  • Hip truss – Usually used to create a hipped end roof, hip roof trusses can also be used for flat roofed sections between roof slopes where the building height is a concern.
  • Mono truss – Sloped in one direction, mono trusses are used to create multiple level roof lines.
  • Raised tie truss – These roof trusses are used to increase the height of a ceiling without needing to increase the height of the building.
  • Scissor truss – Scissor trusses are an alternative to raised tie trusses, allowing the central room height to be raised with sloped ceilings leading to the middle.

Pasquill offer an extensive range of roof truss types, which also include king post trusses for small spans, queen post trusses for larger spans, fan trusses, girder trusses, lattice trusses and gable end trusses.

Posi-Joists™

Pasquill posi-joists in roof

Posi-Joists™ also known as metal web joists, are a lightweight yet strong timber solution combining lightweight timber with the strength of steel web. Suitable for both floors and roofs, these joists offer greater span distance than solid joists allowing for more design flexibility.

Pasquill Posi-Joists™ are individually designed for your project using MiTek PAMIR software to create accurate 3D drawings. Posi-Joists™ can also be used for flat, low and steep pitched roofs.

JJI-Joists

Pasquill JJI-Joists

Pasquill JJI-Joists are FSC and PEFC certified I-Joists manufactured using graded softwood flange bonded to an OSB web. They are suitable for floors, walls and roofs in residential and commercial properties.

Easier to install than solid timber joists, they are also half the weight of traditional solid timber sections. All Pasquill JJI-Joists are fire safe and supplied with a 30 and 60 minute fire certificate. JJI-Joists are cut to length and come complete with ancillary timbers and metal work. The maximum length of these joists is 13 metres.
