Selco supports Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford

Selco Builders Warehouse has marked 10 years of having branches in Yorkshire by donating hundreds of pounds of building materials to Marie Curie Hospice Bradford.

Selco has had branches on Tong Street in Bradford and Elland Road in Leeds since 2008. Additional branches have opened in York and Leeds Roundhay over the last 18 months.

Marie Curie Bradford provides care and support to people suffering from terminal illness and their families and will use the materials from Selco to make a real difference.

Aanika Dhillon, community fundraiser for Marie Curie Bradford, said: “We would like to congratulate Selco for reaching 10 years in Yorkshire and offer huge thanks for the generous donation.

“We are a dementia-friendly hospice and a high percentage of our patients suffering from terminal illness are also affected by dementia.

“Having access to an enjoyable outdoor space can create numerous benefits to people suffering from dementia so we are delighted this project is moving ever closer to being completed.

“It is only because of the generous support of the companies like Selco and other surrounding businesses that we are able to continue developing our care and services to reach more terminally ill people who need us in Bradford.”

Selco Bradford branch manager Kevin O’Rourke said: “Marie Curie Bradford does outstanding work and there are members of our team who also volunteer there, so it was an obvious fit when we were looking for a charity to support to mark our Yorkshire landmark.

“Providing support in the local communities is a major part of the Selco ethos and this dementia garden will have a real impact on people who are going through a very difficult time in their lives.”
