When a former ITF TawKwon-Do champion asks you for something, you give it to them! So when we were asked to support Lisa Dennis in her World Record attempt, we couldn’t say no!
Lisa sealed her place in the Guinness Book of Records by smashing 1,000 roof tiles using just her hands in 83.98 seconds.
Lisa approached us via her local Croydon branch to support her and the Branch General Manager Paul donated 1,260 tiles for the attempt, which took place in Orpington on 26 March. “We are delighted to play a part in helping Lisa create history with this world record attempt. Everyone at Selco would like to congratulate Lisa on her exploits.” said Paul
BBC Breakfast was on hand to capture the dramatic footage and broadcast it to the nation, while an official Guinness World Record adjudicator verified the new mark.
As no previous record stood for this challenge, Guinness World Record verifiers imposed a limit of 90 seconds for Lisa to complete the challenge. With our logo on her shirt, Lisa successfully smashed the record, while a crowd cheered her on.
I put in a lot of intense training for this attempt and I’m delighted it paid off. I have won many National and International TaeKwon-Do titles but gaining a Guinness World Record is the highlight of my career. Achieving the record was an immense feeling. I am so pleased I got to share it with my fiancé Chris and my students who have supported me in my training. I would also like to thank Selco Croydon for all the support they provided. Without them, this wouldn’t have even been possible.
Lisa Dennis, World Record Holder
Congratulations to Lisa and well done to Paul for supporting Lisa and donating the tiles! A smashing job all round.
