Selco’s Coffee Morning

November 3rd, 2012
We had a great turn out on the day with all our branches getting involved with the coffee morning. We are still counting the money but so far we have raised over £3,000 for the Macmillan Coffee Morning. Congratulations to everyone that took part but there has to be a special mention to Ashton Moss branch who collected £450 on the day! Our total raised so far this year is now £30,000 with £20,000 presented at Hanworth and a further £10,000 presented at Tottenham.
Chris Cunliffe Selco managing director presents Nic Skipwith and McMug with a £10,000 cheque at the opening of the new Selco Tottenham branch.
“Thank you so much to everyone at Selco for their support of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. This flagship event raises over £10 million for Macmillan, and we want to thank Selco for their incredible contribution of £3,000 towards this target. We hope you enjoyed the excuse to indulge in cakes galore!”Nic Skipwith – Area Fundraising Manager An example of how the money raised from Coffee Morning could support people affected by cancer is around financial grants: offering financial support to people. A Macmillan grant is a one-off payment for adults, young people or children with cancer, to cover a wide range of practical needs. This can include things such as heating bills, extra clothing, or a much needed break. Every week over 600 people receive a grant from Macmillan Cancer Support, and in 2011 we gave out 31,716 grants totalling a massive  £10.6 million.
