SELCO SUPPORTS SANCTUARY AFTER WINTER FREEZEJanuary 30th, 2018
An animal sanctuary in Dudley which was devastated by a recent spate of bad weather is looking towards a brighter future after receiving a helping hand from a rapidly expanding UK builders merchant.
The Dudley branch of Selco Builders Warehouse, based on Coneygree Industrial Estate, delivered more than £1,000 worth of building materials to Brockswood Animal Sanctuary to help fix its bird aviaries which have recently been damaged by snow.
Selco heard of the sanctuary’s troubles thanks to an appeal for help on social media – and decided to lend a helping hand to the cause on Catholic Lane.
The delivery of sand, cement and timber will ensure that the destroyed aviaries will be fully reconstructed.
Adam Dale, Selco regional manager, was on hand to help deliver the materials, and he said: “It has been brilliant to help out at Brockswood Animal Sanctuary.
“Community spirit is a really important part of our ethos at Selco and we were so glad to be able to help out however we could.
“We have a strong presence across the region, with eight branches in our West Midlands heartland, including Wolverhampton, so we were delighted to assist a local cause.
“After seeing the appeal for help on social media, we worked with the sanctuary and it was great to visit and see how our donation will help out.”
Currently closed for the winter period, Brockswood will reopen again in March but its work to care for sick, injured and abandoned animals goes on all year round.
Neil Swann, from the sanctuary, said: “We really can’t believe how generous Selco has been and can’t thank them enough.
“Our aviaries were really badly damaged after the heavy snow and bad weather at the end of last year and everyone at the sanctuary has been working hard to help restore them to their former glory.
“Selco’s donation of materials has made a massive difference to us – and means we can get our new aviaries rebuilt for when we open in March.”
With hundreds of trade brands always in stock and open seven days a week, Selco’s 59 branches across the UK are firmly focused on helping tradespeople complete their jobs as quickly and effectively as possible.
As well as offering trade services, Selco Hire and a café in branch, Selco also has a strong digital presence including a 30 minute Click & Collect service and a free Project List app which allows tradespeople to plan, manage and quote for all jobs through their smartphone.
As well as keeping track of jobs, the app has now become transactional, meaning tradespeople can easily purchase from Selco’s huge range of materials.
