JOBS AND CHARITY BOOST COMES TO CRAYFORD

More than 50 jobs have been created in Crayford as a leading building materials supplier opens up its latest UK branch.

Virtually all of the staff for the new Selco Builders Warehouse branch – based on Kennet Road – are being employed from the local area, providing a major economic boost to the local community.

The 49th Selco branch in the UK – and the 29th in and around London – will officially open its doors this month, and will also see two charities from Crayford and the surrounding areas receive a £1,000 windfall through the Selco Stars scheme.

Chris Cunliffe, chief executive of Selco Builders Warehouse, said: “Opening in Crayford will be of great benefit to the local economy and it is giving people the chance to join a company with fantastic opportunities for career progression.

“Selco’s recruitment policy has always been to employ those from the branch’s local community and that is continuing in Crayford.

“Our aim is to give fantastic career opportunities to people, while allowing them to extend their skillset at Selco.

“The branch will also provide a further boost to tradesmen in and around Crayford and London, as they will be able to enjoy the benefits Selco provides – unrivalled availability, with the widest range of products in stock, as well as excellent customer service and straight trade pricing.”

Meanwhile, charities and community groups in and around Crayford have been given the chance to receive a £1,000 donation to mark the opening under the Selco Stars initiative.

To enter the competition, charities and community groups across Crayford are invited to explain in no more than 100 words how the money would benefit them.

Entries can be made by filling in a form on the Selco website, https://www.selcobw.com/crayfordstars/

Entries must be submitted by midnight on Wednesday April 19 and two groups will be successful.

Darryl Munday, branch manager at Selco Crayford, said: “We are delighted to be opening Selco’s latest branch, and what better way to celebrate than by offering this fantastic opportunity to charities in the area.

“So many organisations do such fantastic work in the community and we are very proud to be able to give them the chance to win a sum of money which will make a real difference.”

Selco Crayford will supply everything needed to build a house or carry out refurb jobs, including doors, windows, insulation, roofing, heating, plumbing supplies, lighting, electrical products, kitchens, bathrooms and timber.

As with all Selco branches, they will offer an in-branch café, trade services, direct-to-site delivery options and van size parking spaces, all designed to make it easier for tradespeople to get back onto the job as soon as possible.
