A classic triumph

April 9th, 2014
Selco-classic-banner The Selco Classic – the Brummies’ inaugural event – was a huge success! Together we raised £500 for Macmillan and kickstarted the Speedway season in style! The invitational event was a joint collaboration between the Brummies and us, their title sponsors, with Swedish Grand Prix star Fredrik Lindgren taking home the Selco Classic cup. Lindgren fought off competition from a dozen other riders to take the title and fans were out in force to back the Brummies and welcome the new riders to the Perry Barr race track. During the evening, fans dug deep as donations were collected for our nominated charity Macmillan and £1 from the entrance fee of full price tickets was also pledged to the cause. Our CEO presented Lindgren with the cup to close proceedings and the season for our Brummies was officially under way.
Everyone at Selco is very proud of our on-going association with the Birmingham Brummies. The action-packed Selco Classic proved to be a great night ahead of the season opener next week. We’d like to thank both the Brummies commercial team and the fans for their generosity towards Macmillan, a very deserving cause.

Chris Cunliffe, CEO Selco Builders Warehouse

The weather was excellent, especially considering it took place on 19 March! The fans and riders enjoyed themselves and the warm up was deemed a success by all.
The Selco Classic proved to be a great format and gave fans an opportunity to see our 2014 team in action in advance of the Elite League season. Feedback was fantastic and we look forward to the season when the team will be looking to equal their league topping form of last year.

Charles Phillips, Director Birmingham Brummies

Congratulations to Lindgren and good luck to our Brummies. Remember to catch the Elite League action on Sky Sports and visit their official website for fixtures and results.
