The Broncos home mouth-watering match with Wigan Warriors on Saturday 18^th May has been selected as the nominated charity match for the season. As main club sponsors to the Broncos, it is Selco’s official charity, Macmillan Cancer Support, who will benefit from the funds raised at the Twickenham Stoop stadium on that day.

“It’s great to be able to join with the London Broncos to stage an official charity match and the aim is two-fold,” said Selco Head of Marketing Helen Cooper.

“We’re hoping that supporters dig deep to support the charity financially but it’s also helping the charity to raise awareness of the great work it carries out and how it can help families affected by cancer.

 “Wigan Warriors remain a huge name in rugby league so it’s an ideal opportunity to stage our Broncos charity game to reach out to as many people as possible.”

A percentage of ticket sales will go direct to Macmillan, while supporters will have an extra chance to donate via bucket collections on the day and using a dedicated text number. Colleagues from across Selco’s 18 branches in London will be assisting on the day, and Selco hope for a bumper day of fund-raising as they aim to reach their target of generating £100,000 by the end of 2013 for Macmillan.

Events held throughout 2012 and the first half of this year has ensured more than £60,000 has already been raised.

The Marlborough Science Academy, based on Watling Street in St Albans, will be represented by 30 pupils at the London Broncos home Super League match with Wigan Warriors at the Twickenham Stoop on Saturday 18^th May.

That game has been selected as the Broncos charity match to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, the nominated charity of Broncos’ main sponsor Selco Builders Warehouse.

The youngsters from Marlborough will form a guard of honour for the two teams prior to the game, before taking part in the popular half-time Buck and Dusty Selco Cement Mixer Challenge, a regular fixture at Broncos home matches this season.

Selco Builders Warehouse has also provided the school with 100 free tickets, allowing teachers and parents to attend the game along with the 30 participating children.

“It is fantastic opportunity for our students to be involved in a big sporting occasion and charity fundraising event,” said Chris Packard, head of physical education at the Marlborough Science Academy.

“They are all looking forward to the day and we would like to thank Selco Builders Warehouse and London Broncos for the opportunity.”
