GENERAL MANAGERS

Need to be able to demonstrate:

DEPUTY MANAGER

Need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Ability to establish & maintain high standards of presentation & stock availability on site
  • Ability to manage a diverse range of people to meet customer requirements
  • Extensive building and materials industry and trade customer knowledge
  • Confidence & capability to deputise for activities

Will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in controlling and maintaining resources
  • Assisting in the achievement of maximising productivity
  • Assist in minimising losses
  • Assist in the controlling and monitoring of budgets
  • Developing and improving sales activities
  • Employee management/development
  • Ensuring site activities comply with organisational and statutory requirements
  • Assisting the General Manager when required.

SUPERVISORS/ DUTY MANAGERS

Ideal candidates will need to be able to:

  • demonstrate a proven track record of supervising and motivating employees
  • demonstrate excellent organisational skills ensuring targets and high standards of customer service are met
  • demonstrate effective communication skills at all levels, especially when dealing with customers

Individuals will be responsible for:

  • ensuring shop floor standards are met
  • controlling stock and ordering
  • organising staff rotas
  • merchandising
  • training & developing employees
  • dealing with disciplinary and grievances in line with company procedures
  • carrying out the Duty Manager role when required

TRADE COUNTER SALES ASSISTANTS

Will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to develop the customer base
  • Good computer skills
  • Good building materials product knowledge

Individuals will be responsible for:

  • Promoting, improving & increasing sales
  • Improving & maintaining product knowledge
  • Processing refunds & transactions when requested with appropriate authorisation
  • Handling customer queries and complaints in a professional manner  

GOODS IN ASSISTANTS

Will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous goods inwards experience
  • Ability to interact with suppliers and customers
  • Good computer skills

Individuals will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all deliveries are booked in the same day
  • All goods are checked off correctly against documentation
  • Shortages are reported to relevant people
  • Ensure goods are moved swiftly to the shop floor
  • Ensure all goods due for return are processed
  • Keeping work area safe, tidy and free from obstructions

CARPARK ATTENDANTS

Will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proactive approach when assisting customers
  • Ability to work on own without constant supervision

Individuals will be responsible for:

  • Making sure trolleys are returned to the designated area
  • Assisting customers with loading stock
  • Keeping the car park area tidy

SALES ASSISTANTS

Need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • High level of self motivation
  • Building materials product knowledge
  • Proactive approach to problem solving

Will be responsible for:

  • Helping customers with various queries
  • Ensuring all plant inspection books are kept up to date
  • Ensuring stock is stored safely and in the appropriate manner

HGV CLASS 2 DRIVERS – HIAB QUALIFIED

Need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proactive approach to assisting customers
  • Ability to work on own initiative without supervision
  • Flexible working attitude to meet customer needs

Will be responsible for:

  • Multi-drops of building materials
  • Ensuring the vehicle is loaded in line with procedures
  • Keeping the vehicle clean and tidy

BANK CLERK 

Need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in a similar environment controlling cash
  • Cash loss investigation skills
  • Numeric & methodical approach
  • PC literate

Will be responsible for:

  • Cash control procedures & adherence
  • Cash losses & daily banking
  • Change ordering
  • Daily figure tallying and inputting
  • Liaising with Accounts department

PERPETUAL INVENTORY ASSISTANT

Need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in a similar environment controlling stock integrity
  • Problem solving
  • Numeric & methodical approach
  • PC literate

Will be responsible for:

  • Weekly count cycle of products
  • Stock integrity
  • Annual stock take
  • Upkeep of product layout files
  • Identifying stock loss issues & recommending improvements
  • Price changes & promotional labelling

STOCK CONTROLLER

Need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in a similar environment controlling stock levels
  • Liaise with suppliers & price negotiation
  • Problem solving skills
  • Numeric & methodical approach
  • PC literate

Will be responsible for:

  • Stock levels in line with seasonal trends
  • Forecasting sales
  • Sourcing new lines & special orders
  • Identifying new lines & sales opportunities
  • Supplier deliveries & returns
  • Point of contact for sales reps
  • Up keep of computer ordering system

HEAD CASHIERS

Need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in a similar environment controlling cash
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Organising staff rota’s
  • Training & development of employees
  • Product identification initiatives

Will be responsible for:

  • Cash control procedures & adherence
  • Customer service levels
  • Product training for cashiers
  • Correct charging of products
  • Random trolley checks & security awareness

ADMINISTRATION SUPERVISORS

Need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of payroll
  • Knowledge of filing systems
  • Purchase ledger & problem solving
  • Cash handling experience
  • PC literate

Will be responsible for:

  • Inductions & staff training
  • Payroll & holiday management
  • Labour turnover & absence management control
  • Uniform & stationery budgets
  • Personnel record maintenance & liaising with HR department
  • Cash office & cash control procedures
  • Purchase ledger & liaising with Accounts department

CHECKOUT SALES ASSISTANTS

Need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in a similar environment & role
  • Experience of handling customer enquiries & complaints
  • Numeric & methodical approach
  • PC literate

Will be responsible for:

  • Monies held within their till & counter sales
  • Ensuring that all items are correctly charged and non missed
  • Proactively seeking help when required
  • Keeping work area safe, tidy and free from obstructions
